Avi has an undergraduate degree in animation from the Bezalel Acadamy of Art and Design, Jerusalem and a Masters degree in architecture from the University of Toronto. He is currently living in Toronto and working at the University. In his art, Avi explores themes such as form, materiality, architecture, environmentalism, nature, privacy, domesticity, and urbanism.

What kind of artwork do you have in your home?

I have a wood print from MIR which is my most prized possession. I also have artwork that I have received as gifts or through trades with my artist friends.

Describe your home in 3 words

I live with my wife who is a bio-chemist and my 9 week old son in a small downtown Toronto apartment.

How long have you been creating art?

As long as I can remember.

When I'm not making art, I'm (a) ...

Looking at other peoples art.

Favourite book

Sapiens; a Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari

When did you start making art, and why?

My grandmother took me to her watercolor class when I was very young and since then I have been painting regularly. I also sew and make websites as a hobby.
